Christmas & New Year - I hate it - Am I in the Minority?

I detest work Xmas parties. After 20 odd years of them I stopped going a few years back as I don't want to spend time with the cunts outside of office hours as 90% of them are utter cunts

I detest work Xmas lunches (see above) plus all the "this is lovely" bollocks whilst oaying �40 for a piece of shit turkey worth about �2

I detest office decorations. Don't put tinsel on my PC, chair and desk - as soon as I see it I will rip it off and throw it away

Secret Santa - just fuck off, please, just FUCK OFF

Xmas Day - the only good thing is stuffing yourself with various foods, cheeses and booze - apart from that it is all put on shit - I tend to eat and then fall asleep wanting it to all be over

Boxing Day (see above)

NYE - not been out for around 8 years now - worst night of the year - full of cunts wanting a row, ages to get a drink, paying to get in a fucking pub and then if not local triple cab fares. Add to this pointless resolutions and how next year will be "my year" No it won't, it will be the same shit as last year

New Years Day - waking up with all the shit over and then realising rail fares have gone up and you are back at work to do it all again

I fucking HATE IT and cannot wait for it to all be over. Luckily my family agreed years ago not to do presents as it was a total waste of time and money.

I ignore all the trappings I don't like (most of the above), and just enjoy the fact that work closes down from 24th Dec to the 2nd Jan.

No emails, no phone calls, no reports to write etc etc.

This year, was are looking to find a place that does Christmas Day breakfast. If we find that, we will have a massive breakfast, then go home and vegetate before eating further non-Christmassy food much later in the day.

Ideal.

Lol, good rant. I suppose for most adult people the best thing is time off work, for that alone it makes it worthwhile, plus the food and booze of course and seeing the kids excited

I have this love of Christmas trees, think they are glorious and magical if done properly, with all the lights and trimmings. I can sit for hours looking at my tree, which is usually exactly what I do do.

I enjoy it all... apart from NYE as it falls on my daughters birthday ... so it ends fucking the evenings up... a bit... but otherwise Turkey me up

There's good bits and bad bits.

Semi-compulsory cheerfulness pisses me off a lot, especially as half the things that are supposed to induce it, like piped music in shops, piss me off.

But you can get together with friends and family without having to book time off to coincide with their time off, and I like a good drink.

I like the run up to Christmas rather than Christmas itself. We always had a Golf day between Christmas and the New Year, loved that. 27 holes and a good piss up afterwards.

when I worked in the city I loved the Christmas parties. had some great nights and always completely fucked by the end of each one but the once a year drinker cunts you'd get infesting the pubs in the couple of days before the Christmas break were annoying

I just ignore it, apart from turning out a nice dinner on Christmas Eve and lunch on the 25th, which I do enjoy. The rest can fuck right off, including presents, and most people I know seem to feel pretty much the same.

As for New Years, now that is a massive cuntfest. Pay to go to my pub, to be surrounded by a pack of cunts who pitch up once per year and pretend to like the fuckers just 'cos the clock strikes 12 on another fucking day ?

Christmas is for kids.

Adults who get overexcited about are cunts, especially those who insist on buying scores of utterly shite presents.

The daft mother of my nieces goes massively overboard. She has been told not to bother because my siblings and our parents don't want useless shit and we are all at the stage of life where we don't want any more crap.

Last year half the parcels for my kid under the tree were from her and it was all shit. And she gets the raging hump when it's not reciprocated.

Buy kids decent stuff they might want or need. Don't get half of Argos and the pubs shop.

Give grown men alcohol so they cope with it all.

Don't ask me what to get the wife. Let her choose it then she's guaranteed happy.
